A story read aloud can be so much more than words: a child hears the voice of Mom or Dad and feels that they matter. This is where the project “I Read for You” by hoppenbank e.V. comes in.
Fathers who are currently incarcerated and often have little contact with their children are given the opportunity to keep their relationship alive despite physical separation. In guided reading sessions, they record personal stories, bedtime tales, or small messages that are later shared with their children – a gift that brings warmth and connection when direct encounters aren’t possible.
The project is carried out in close cooperation with the Bremen correctional facility. It encourages fathers to take an active and loving role in their children’s lives – an important step on the path to reintegration.
Connecting Hearts is proud to be part of this meaningful initiative.
